Jess Gerald Atkinson (born December 11, 1961 in Ann Arbor, Michigan) is a former American football placekicker in the National Football League for the St. Louis Cardinals, New York Giants, Washington Redskins, and the Indianapolis Colts. He played college football at the University of Maryland. After his professional football career, Atkinson went into broadcasting, and began his career as a sports anchor with WRC in 1990. He remained there until 1996 when he became the sports director at WPRI in Providence, Rhode Island. In 2000, he returned to the Washington, D.C. area when he became the sports director at WUSA, a position he held until 2002. Since his departure from WUSA, he has gone into different ventures, many of which keep him closely associated with his alma mater. His most recent venture is the production of the television series ''Terrapins Rising'', which is a reality show about the Maryland Terrapins football team that airs on Comcast Sportsnet. He currently resides in Bethesda, Maryland with his wife Natalie and their sons Joseph, Anthony, and their daughter Jessica.
